Jason grew up on Milwaukee’s North Side, where sports were more than just a pastime - they were a lifeline. His journey from youth leagues to varsity athletics eventually led him to Concordia University, where he continued to refine both his skills on the court and his calling off of it. After years of officiating and mentoring, Jason turned his passion for coaching and youth development into action, building a growing network of leagues, camps, and tournaments that would become the foundation of Good Call Ref.
Today, Good Call Ref does more than assign referees. We develop them. By offering hands-on training, mentorship, and real-game opportunities, we help new and experienced officials level up their skills and their careers. What sets us apart is our commitment to both sides of the whistle; we invest in the growth of our officials while also helping event organizers, schools, and athletic associations find trustworthy, well-prepared officiating teams.

Founded by Milwaukee native Jason McClelland, Good Call Ref was built from a deep love for sport, community, and the powerful role both play in shaping young lives.
But our mission goes even deeper. We exist to serve and uplift youth, giving them positive outlets, mentorship, and opportunities to thrive. Through partnerships with schools, community organizations, and athletic programs, we help bring youth camps and tournaments to life - events where kids can play, grow, and stay connected to a supportive community. Both through training officials or mentoring young athletes, Good Call Ref is here to keep the game moving forward.
